Fun Fall Activities for Red Deer Seniors

Posted on October 31st, 2021

Fall is beautiful in Red Deer, Alberta, and there are plenty of fun activities that are appropriate for seniors. Here are some of our suggestions for activities before winter this year:

Outdoor Beauty - Leaves are changing colour in Red Deer, and you might want to have a picnic. Remember, the Red Deer River flows through Red Deer, and there are several parks along the river that you can enjoy. McKenzie Trails Park, Bower Ponds, and Maskepetoon Park are just some parks along the river where you could have a nice picnic.

Indoor Excitement - The Canadian Finals Rodeo is the first week of November. Not only are there several events to watch, but there will also be a free trade show. This will take place at Westerner Park.

Fall Festival - There is a fall festival at The Jungle Farm on Township Road 362 north of Innisfail. You can pick pumpkins, and there is a corn maze, among other activities. It’s a great way to get some fresh air up until the end of October.

Visiting Calgary - If you feel up for a day trip or a weekend away, there are also many interesting things to do in Calgary. For shopping, there is the Heritage Fall Market in late October, and in early November, there is the Festival of Crafts on Round Up Way. In mid-November, there is a European Film Festival, and don’t forget the Telus Spark Science Centre, where there is a terrific Arctic exhibit starting at the end of October.

Staying Home - If you don’t want to go outside, there are still some fun things you can do at home. Start thinking about and planning your Christmas season. Get together with family members online and have a video conference to see everyone.

The weather is getting colder, but don’t let that dampen your spirits. Enjoy the good weather while you can, and let’s make the most of a beautiful fall season in Alberta.
