Why Red Deer Is Great Place to Retire

Posted on August 31st, 2021

Red Deer, Alberta, is a beautiful place to live. It’s a particularly good choice for retiring seniors because it has the advantages of a town, but not the traffic, noise, or pollution of a big city. Here are some of what we love about Red Deer:

Location - Red Deer has a lot to offer. It is approximately halfway between Edmonton and Calgary. That makes it easy to visit those cities or be visited by relatives and friends living there. Since Red Deer is not a big city, the cost of living will be somewhat less than in a big city. Red Deer still has a small town feel with rural Alberta very close by.

Nature - Red Deer, Alberta, has some beautiful parks and lies on the banks of the Red Deer River. It is easy to find green areas to walk, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. There are ponds offering winter and summer fishing, and no limit to outdoor activities.

Culture - In addition to the beautiful outdoors, there is also plenty of culture available to those living in Red Deer, including the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra, several museums and art galleries, live theatre, and several options for higher education. The town also continues to become more and more eco-conscious and green with several local initiatives.

If you are considering retirement in western Canada and living in a senior community, please give the Hamlets at Deer Park some consideration.
